Over the past year the number of members in Nok-Su has grown from 3 to 19 members,
a growth unseen in the Florida Keys in over six years. Nok-Su was inactive with the
Lodge for four years until the Summer Ordeal of 2009. Since, we have driven recruitment by
visiting local Troops and informing them of the opportunities available through the Brotherhood. Winter Ordeal brought forth 3 new members. During the Ordeal our Brothers were busy cleaning up the park. In February we discussed upcoming events and service opportunities for our Chapter such as assisting with the District’s Pinewood Derby allowing us to begin teaching younger Scouts about the OA. At the suggestion of Bob Wolz, I have begun a movement to invite all Troops from the Upper and Lower Keys to attend this event in Order to nominate and elect candidates for the coming Ordeals. I hope to begin a Nok-Su Chapter Drum Team and will be discussing fundraising opportunities to achieve this
during our next meeting.
