March 2011 Update
In January the Chapter had a great turnout at the Winter Ordeal. We are very proud of the fact that Gokhos Chapter had 21 new Ordeal members go through the Ordeal and join our Brotherhood! Some members of our Chapter participated in the Bare Foot Mailman’s hike, the Special Olympics held at Traz Powell Stadium, the Lodge Indian Village at Scoutmasters Camporee and we also cooked and fed Scoutmaster’s Camporee Staff during the weekend. We plan to make generous donations to the Joseph Aaron Abbot Campership Fund and the Hal Hollis Fund at the next LEC meeting. We have also provided community service by having several Chapter Members participate in the “Power of One Hour” community clean-up. After the Power of One Hour clean-up was over, we had several Chapter members join with other OA Brothers helping with the Adopt a Street road cleanup on Boy Scout Road. We also provided support to the Sea Scouts Commodores Cup by cooking. It was held at John B Lloyd State Park and the U.S. Coast Guard facility at Port Everglades. In March the Chapter attended the Lodge Banquet where several of our Chapter members were recognized. Other Chapter members were providing Staff support to the NYLT that is being held at the Hut 69 location in Silver Palms. We had a great Chapter meeting this month and are getting ready to go to Section Conference.
