March Chapter Update
Over the past few months the Elgixin Chapter has been very active. We have had a meeting every fourth monday of the month at the Prince of Peace Church. At the winter ordeal our chapter welcomed 3 new arrowmen and had one member seal his ties in brotherhood.
The Elgixin chapter also volunteered at the Spe-cial Olympics on Saturday, March 2 and 3. On the second, we went and helped set up for the Special Olympics, while on the third we helped to serve lunch and break everything down.
At the Lodge Banquet, our chapter proudly com-peted in the lodge games and had a fun weekend of fellowship with the lodge. The Elgixin Chapter would also like to congratulate all of the new vigil members and all the brothers who sealed their ties in brotherhood. We would also like to congratulate Jonathan McEwan on being awarded the Vigil Honor award. We also congratulate Moose Pedersen and our Lodge Chief, Jonathan Yost, on receiving the Founders Award.
Our chapter also did a fundraiser at the American Legion Post 157. Our chapter received $150 for cooking and serving lunch to them.
December Update
Elgixin meets on the fourth Monday of every month at the Prince of Peace Church in Margate. Over the past few months, Elgixin has given cheerful service back to the community by helping a church unload pumpkins and holding a canned food and teddy bear drive to give to families over the holidays. We also served lunch at Cub fun day and also sold snacks as a fundraiser for the chapter. This past month, Elgixin had a great time at our annual Holiday Dinner at Carrabba’s Italian Grill. Thank you to all the guests who attended and we hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did.
Elgixin is pushing upcoming events, such as Section Conference, OA High Adventure and NOAC.
Elgixin is looking forward to our OA mentoring day and fun events to come.
September Update
Elgixin meets on the fourth Monday of every month at the Prince of Peace Church in Margate. Our chapter took part in a service project that honored the victims of 9/11; it was called the Field of Honor. Here, 1000 American Flags were flown to commemorate those who lost their lives 10 years ago. At this event, our chapter escorted people to their seats, handed out water, and helped people find their flags in the field. Together, our chapter totaled about 32 hours of cheerful service to the community.
At our last meeting, we mainly discussed the Haunted Forest. We elected Michael Cohen as our chair-men for our trail, and AJ Carter as the chairmen for our midway games. We voted on the theme of “Fairy Tales Gone Wrong” and we are looking forward to raising money for the JAACF with the trail and also the grill we are responsible for Saturday night. All in all, we expect a very successful Haunted Forest for the chapter as well as the lodge.
Welcome to a new year!
The Elgixin Chapter has had a good turn out at the Summer Ordeal, gaining 14 new Ordeal members and having 2 members seal their ties in Brotherhood. Also at the Summer Ordeal the Elgixin Chapter took third place in the Best All Around Chapter Competition. Congratulations to Paldani Chapter for winning Best All Around Chapter. The Elgixin Chapter recently had its Annual Chapter Picnic the weekend after the Summer Ordeal so that all our new Brothers can have a chance to attend and also run for a Chapter Position in the Chapter Elections that we also hold at our picnic. A new Chapter Chief, Vice Chief, and Elangomat Chairmen were elected and will serve this Chapter well. We meet on the 4th Monday of every month at Prince of Peace Church at 6012 NW 9th Court, Margate, FL 33063.
