March 2011 Update
Since the last edition of The Patchwork, Pooca Tooka Chapter has had an eventful and exciting three months. We began January this year with our monthly Chapter Meeting on the third. There we proudly discussed dues for both 2010 and 2011, finalized our plans for the upcoming Winter Ordeal and prepared for Lincoln Marti Camporee. That weekend, Pooca Tooka cheerfully served the Lodge at the 2011 Winter Ordeal. We had great food, great company and lots of fun participating in all of the service projects that were completed. To end the month, Pooca Tooka had a blast at the 2011 Lincoln Marti Camporee. We all had a blast while actively helping at the OA Indian Village. Pooca Tooka members helped set up, run, and take down the stunning display without hesitation. In February, Pooca Tooka Chapter was busy giving service as always. We started off with a Chapter Meeting on 7 February 2011. There, we discussed the Special Olympics and the 2011 Scoutmaster’s Camporee. On the 13th, we contributed to the Special Olympics with cheerful service. As planned, many members arrived and aided the Lodge in fulfilling its goals. The next weekend, Pooca Tooka was once again in the hot sun, selflessly working for the fun of it. We, once again, helped set up, run, and take down the OA Indian Village. Also, we sold ice cream in order to raise funds for our charities. So far in March, Pooca Tooka has already participated in numerous activities. Initially, we had a very successful Lodge Banquet. We spent a great weekend with the Lodge cooking, competing and having fun. Pooca Tooka was in charge of cooking for the weekend, and we made sure to do our best in order to make it happen. The food was great! Also, Pooca Tooka competed for, and won, the Tom Tatham Spirit Award. In addition, many of our members won the Exceptional First Year Arrowman Award that weekend. Furthermore, we are very proud that Gene Olive, among others, was honored with the highest honor any Arrowman can be honored with: the Vigil Honor. The Monday following the Banquet, we had our monthly Chapter Meeting. There, we celebrated our successful weekend with leftover deserts (taking full advantage of our responsibility as cooking crew), and planned for Section Conference, Chapter Fellowship and Summer Ordeal. We plan closing off this Scouting year by continuing our tradition of cheerful service.
